Description

The Redingote, with its name deriving from the english “Riding Coat”, is a late 18th C. coat-style dress, inspired by menswear of the period. It soon became a favorite walking costume amongst ladies throughout Europe. Our pattern is based on costume studies and period fashion plates. It features a pelerine, two front options and skirt with front opening. The jacket is cut single-breasted, but a decorative second row of buttons lends a double-breasted look. Instructions for a matching petticoat are also included!
