Description

Typical 18th century lady’s straw hat with wide brim and low crown. The name is said to derive from the group of women who wore these hats first – the shepherdesses (Bergère = French for shepherdess). The style became a favorite among European women and remained in use well into the early decades of the 19th century. In the early 19th century, the shape was adapted to contemporary fashion by wearing the brim bent downward, similar to a bonnet.

This model comes with an attractive pink grosgrain ribbon and can be decorated further according to your own taste.

Crown diameter approx. 18 cm (7 in), overall diameter approx. 50 cm (19.5 in), crown height approx. 4 cm (1.5 in). As this is a natural product, dimensions may vary slightly.
