Description

Typical 18th century lady’s straw hat with wide brim and low crown. The name is said to derive from the group of women who wore these hats first – the shepherdesses (Bergère = french for shepherdess). The style became a favorite among European women and remained in use well into the early decades of the 19th century.

Crown (diameter) ca. 15 cm (6″), overall diameter ca. 50 cm (20″). This is a natural product, dimensions may vary slightly from item to item.
