Description

The dolman is a Victorian cape-like garment with faux sleeves. It closes at the front with hooks and eyes. Our pattern was taken from an original in our private collection. It is made of black cut silk velvet (similar look to modern burnout velvet) and lined with silk satin. Collar and centre front edges are trimmed with ruched lace, bottom edges are decorated with pompoms and tassels. Lining and top fabric were treated as a single layer. The open seams were bound with bias tape to prevent fraying on the inside. You can hand or machine sew your dolman. However, our instructions show you the original construction method. Please note: Pattern includes only the dolman, not the skirt depicted.

Sizes Group A (German 36-42 = US size 6-12, UK 10-14, France 38-44 = Bust 84 – 96 cm / 33 1/2 – 38 1/2″) or Group B (German 44 – 50 = US 14-20, UK 12-18, France 46-52 = Bust 100 – 114 cm / 40 – 45 1/2″).
