In contrast to the artificially padded, corseted silhouettes of the era, historically inspired Artistic Dress was romantic, a little daring, and offered a welcome breath of freedom in an otherwise tightly laced day. Elegant, classic, individual — the Artistic Reform Teagown is truly the “have your cake and eat it too” ensemble. Combining beauty with comfort, it embodies the ideal of the Artistic Reform Movement: grace, movement, and the sumptuous opulence of the Italian Renaissance.

Inspired by the Aesthetic Dress Reform Movement, which — influenced by the art of the Pre-Raphaelites — called for a more natural and artistic form of dress without corsets, this extensive pattern set by La Mode Bagatelle captures the essence of that era beautifully.

Artists such as Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edward Burne-Jones not only revitalized the art world of the 19th century but also created an idealized vision of Italian Renaissance beauty. Art-loving women admired the romantic images of the Pre-Raphaelites — and they loved the fashions of their heroines just as much.

While the reform dress never became everyday streetwear, it was worn at home, for afternoon teas, and artistic gatherings — a statement of style, modern thought, and refined taste. Its soft silhouette stood in sharp contrast to the stiff, restrictive fashions of the 1870s and 1880s. The reform dress could be worn without a corset, allowed freedom of movement, and expressed the artistic and romantic spirit so beloved in that period.

Let yourself be inspired — indulge in fabrics, trims, and embellishments. These gowns also make wonderful historical wedding dresses!

Unfortunately, we have once again been forced to raise the price of this extensive pattern set.
Wholesale prices, shipping costs, import duties & fees, the US dollar exchange rate, and our own expenses have increased so sharply that we are earning almost nothing on this product — even after the price adjustment.
Since there is nothing comparable on the market — especially not in this scope — we have decided to keep the pattern available for now. Thank you for your understanding.
