Description

The Fringe trimmed evening dress is an original 1926 pattern from our private collection. Contrary to popular belief, fringe was a rather unusual trim at the time –  the 1960s revival of 20s fashion cemented this idea into our minds. Our dress is one of the very few originals in this style.

This elegant evening dress is a pull-on style without closures, as was common in the period. The original model did not call for a lining, however we chose to add a lining as a modern comfort. You can of course omit it if desired! A long scarf is attached to one shoulder as a playful asymmetrical trim. Popular colours choices were dark jewel tones such as plum, navy and also black, as well as soft pastels like peach, sage green and yellow. Fabrics were usually preferred in solid colours over patterned fabric, to show off the delicate trims.

The original text accompanying the pattern says:

“The smooth bodice is made up from glossy silk, which is also used for the fringe trimmed skirt. The skirt is attached to the sleeveless bodice in an upwards sweeping line.”

Includes 11 Sizes: 34-52 (= Bust: 84-128 cm =33 1/2-51″, Waist 66-110 cm = 26 1/2-44″)
